Item#: CRO_SEB"Sweet Emma's Band"Childhood trips to Preservation Hall in New Orleans with my parents when I was about 7 or 8 in the late 1960’s were the inspiration for this watercolor. When I was in my late teens I went back many times to Preservation Hall and was able to see most of the same musicians I remembered from years before. On one trip I was lucky enough to see Sweet Emma Barrett in her later years. These trips inspired a whole series of watercolors focusing on Jazz Musicians. The painting features from left to right: Louis Nelson, Cie Frazier, Percy Humphrey, James Prevost, Willie Humphrey, “Sweet Emma” Barrett and Narvin Kimball. Limited edition print (14” x 21”) |
