There is nothing better on a cold winter day than a hot bowl of gumbo. This chicken and sausage gumbo recipe has a rich dark roux base and is filled with tender chunks of chicken, smoked sausage, okra, onions, celery, bell peppers and tomatoes, served over steaming rice. Gumbo takes a little time to make so I always make a big pot and freeze extra for future meals. This recipe is featured on back of the Santa's Swamp Cabin Christmas card. Each card design is pre-printed with a specific recipe. We include the recipes as lagniappe so when you send our Christmas cards you are giving a little gift as well.
